Dallas County man dies following shooting in Selmont

A Dallas County man died from injuries he received in a wild shootout at the Pine Glenn Subdivision of Selmont on May 4.

According to the Dallas County Sheriff’s Office, Chico Madison, 20, was killed during a drive-by shooting.  After the shooting, suspects left a car and ran between the houses.

By the time DSCO deputies arrived on the scene, Madison was taken to the hospital. DCSO Officials said Madison died before making it to the hospital. He was found dead in an abandoned vehicle outside of Church’s Chicken late on the evening of May 4. 

Authorities believe Chico Madison was being driven to the hospital after being wounded in a shooting in Selmont before he was found dead in an abandoned vehicle near Church’s Chicken on Broad Street in Selma.

DCSO officials said evidence recovered from the car has been sent to state forensics for examination.

The incident remains under investigation by the DCSO, who are still searching for the person who shot Madison.
