The city of Valley Grande held its annual Easter egg hunt on March 23 at the city ballfields.

A crowd of nearly 300 filled the park under gray overcast skies for an egg hunt that lasted only 30 minutes. Children quickly grabbed the eggs. Kids also painted their faces during the three events that officially kicked off Easter.

Valley Grande City Councilwoman Sara Day, who’s in charge of special events, was pleased with how the event went.

“The egg hunt was awesome,” Day said. “A huge crowd, easily over 250 people.  Everyone was happy taking pictures with the Easter bunny, playing games, hunting Easter eggs and having faces painted by local churches.”

Day said parks and recreation director Bubba Holley and city churches were instrumental in making the egg hunt successful.

“Special thanks to Bubba Holley and all of the support from the local churches to pull this event off,” Day said.
