The Jackson-Thornton accounting firm gave the Valley Grande City Council a clean audit report.

Accountants Chris Neuenschwander and Katie Vega Schmidt submitted their findings during the Valley Grand City Council meeting Monday, March 18. The audit was done between October and December 2023.

Neuenschwander said the firm noticed two big changes from last year, moving $1 million in cash to a certificate of deposit and the city’s use of TAP Grants. Valley Grande has an unrestricted net position of $1.9 million, with total expenditures at $1.4 million.

The entire city council was present: Mayor Wayne Labbe, council members Sara Day, Kay Davidson, Robbie Rose,Bruce Hughes and Jane Harris .

The city council and the Jackson-Thornton firm both credited city treasurer, clerk Kim Harris for her hard work in getting the books ready for the annual audit.

In other business, the council discussed Valley Grande Egg Hunt, which will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, March 23, at the city ball field. Labbe joked, saying it will be over in 30 minutes.
