Spring break for Selma City Schools, Dallas County Schools, Meadowview Christian School and Morgan Academy will be observed March 18-22. 

The week traditionally scheduled during the first few days of spring gives students a much-needed break from cramming for midterms and countless homework assignments in English, algebra and biology. The five-day vacation also gives teachers time away from giving tests and grading them.

While we sympathize with both sides, we want students and teachers to enjoy their time away from school and recharge their batteries. Spring break is a much-needed opportunity to just get away from everything for a second. Students and teachers are freed from school commitments, having time to themselves and pursue things they like. 

Some students and teachers go out of town to a nearby beach to spend their days without the stress of deadlines or exams. Others visit family and friends during this time, preserving their mental health and making sure they return to finish the semester strong. Some choose to remain in town and maintain a low profile.

We want everyone to enjoy themselves and have a happy spring break. Students and teachers deserve it.
