SouthernCare New Beacon Hospice of Selma relocated with the goal to better suit its patients.
SouthernCare Executive Director, Amy Ray, said the move was long overdue.
“We have had a lot of growth within our office,” Ray said. “Employees were previously having to share spaces. We didn’t have enough room to accommodate events such as grief support provided by our Chaplain or our annual memorial service. Our new office has plenty of room for everyone, and we couldn’t be more excited about how this will benefit us and the community that we serve.”
SouthernCare New Beacon Hospice has served the area since 2015. The Selma office provides care to Dallas and Perry counties under the direction of hospice physician Dr. Park Chittom and associate hospice physician Dr. Jack Burns. A new hospice physician Dr. Tyler Goins will join the team soon.
“Hospice care focuses on the quality of life for those with a life-limiting illness,” Patient Care Manager Karan Rylee said. “We provide many services to our patients such as nursing care, home aides, spiritual and psychosocial support, and volunteer services. We have a nurse available after-hours and on weekends for emergencies. All of our nurses are local which allows us to provide timely care in the event of an emergency. SouthernCare New Beacon Hospice of Selma accepts most insurances and provides most medical and equipment needs.”
