Selma man killed in Autauga County crash

A Selma man was killed in a two-vehicle crash on March 5.

According to Alabama Law Enforcement Agency (ALEA) Sargeant Jeremy J. Burkett, Jamarcus R. Thomas, 26, was fatally injured when the 2009 Honda Accord he drove collided head-on with the 2012 Cadillac CTS driven by Angela D. Murray, 63, of Prattville. 

Burkett said that Thomas was not using a seat belt at the time of the crash and was pronounced deceased at the scene. Murray was injured and transported to Baptist South Medical Center in Montgomery for treatment. A Selma man, Melvin L. Barnes Jr., 25, was a passenger in the Accord, injured and transported to Baptist South for treatment.

 The crash occurred at Alabama 14, one mile east of Autaugaville, in Autauga County at 5:45 p.m. on March 5.

Burkett said no further details are available as ALEA Troopers with the Highway Patrol Division continue to investigate the accident.
