The R.B. Hudson Steam Academy is quickly making an impact in Dallas County. Various students appeared at different events across the city over the last week and we were impressed.

The ThriveWay Peer Helpers, a group of seventh and eighth grade students at R.B. Hudson, donated laundry detergent and $135 to the Winston Williams Homeless Shelter on Feb. 23.

Eighteen members of the R.B. Hudson’s Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA) attended the Selma City Council meeting on Feb. 27.

We applaud the administration at R.B. Hudson for the student’s development, especially its principal, Dr. Ken Hamilton and assistant principal Dr. Kesia Smith.  Students need strong examples to follow and it always starts at the top.

We understand that kids live in a different world from that many of us did. Social media provides its many challenges, both good and bad. The R.B. Hudson faculty is ensuring that students are building toward a bright future, driving them far away from the negative energy. Dr. Ken Hamilton and Dr. Kesia Smith both deserve pats on the back for their herculean efforts.
