Curtis is a Selma native and a 1995 graduate of Selma High School. Curtis said she is looking forward to working with the SHA.

“I am overjoyed at the opportunity to serve as Chief Operating Officer of the Selma Housing Authority alongside Kennard Randolph and his incredible team,’’ Curtis said. “I will serve with integrity, grit, and excellence as we continue to build and in some instances, rebuild our community by bridging many gaps. Selma is home, and this assignment feels purposeful and right. After all, purpose is what gives life meaning.”

A member of Gospel Tabernacle Church, Curtis is best-known in the community as a longtime educator at Selma City Schools. Curtis was a fourth-grade teacher at Edgewood Elementary, principal at both the School of Discovery and R.B. Hudson Middle School.

“My life’s goal is to fulfill my God-given purpose,” Curtis said. “Whatever I do in life, I desire to be in God’s perfect will and to enjoy the abundant, good life that is planned. In doing that, He will give me my heart’s desires, with one being to serve people and my community in a greater capacity for a better Selma.’’

Curtis is married to Walter Curtis, a Lieutenant with the Selma Police Department (SPD). They have four children: Ebonaa, Walteria, Rachel, and Walter III. She also has a grandchild, Ella Noelle Conwell.
