Trial set for Selma man accused of capital murder

A Selma man charged with murder a in November had an initial appearance in the Dallas County Courtroom on Feb. 2.

Tramaine Walter, 33, is being charged with the murder of Jasmine Callens on Nov. 12 at the 1500 block of Tremont Street. Walter was captured in Mississippi and brought back to the state to stand trial on two counts of capital murder.

At the time of the arrest, Selma Police Chief Kenta Fulford said that the suspect has an extensive and violent criminal history.

During the court appearance, Walter was advised of his rights and the charges against him, and appointed an attorney. A preliminary hearing date is set for April 2.
