Marion Junction man involved in Hale County accident

A Marion Junction man was involved in a multi-vehicle crash in Hale County Jan. 12.

According to Alabama Law Enforcement Agency Corporal Reginal M. King, Marion resident Ja’Quan  D. Brooks, 24, was fatally injured when the 1998 Honda Accord he drove left the roadway, then re-entered the roadway and struck the 2015 Honda Accord driven by Kendrick T. Chavers, 27, of Sawyerville. 

After the initial collision King said the 1998 Honda Accord struck the 2001 International tractor-trailer driven by Herman L. Hinton, 40, of Marion Junction. Brooks was not wearing  a seat belt at the time of the crash and was pronounced deceased at the scene.

The crash occurred on Alabama Highway 69 near the 124-mile marker, approximately six miles south of Moundville, in Hale County. 

No further details are available as Troopers with the ALEA Highway Patrol Division continue to investigate.
