The year 2024 will be a busy one in Selma and Dallas County for several different reasons.
Countless events are ready on the agenda for the year and we can start in January. The Stop the Violence event will be held at the Songs of Selma on Jan. 15, a Federal holiday known as MLK Holiday.
We have two events in March, which take place during the first week.
First, we have the Annual Bridge Crossing Jubilee on March 2-3 throughout Selma. It is too early to tell whether we will get another visit from President Joe Biden.
Two days later on March 5, we will have the Dallas County Commission races. Probate Judge Jimmy Nunn and Commissioners Curtis Williams, Jan Justice, Connell Towns and Vivian Rogers are all up for re-election.
Later in the year, Orrville Public Library is projected to be complete and Colclasher Enterprises, a $9 million dollar plastic pipe manufacturing facility, is projected to open at Craig Field Industrial Park.
In between those events are high school graduations at Ellwood Christian Academy, Dallas County. Keith, Southside, Selma, Morgan Academy and Meadowview Christian School. We will keep track of Selma’s Gunnar Henderson playing shortstop for the Baltimore Orioles
We have things to focus on in Selma and Dallas County. We also have room for more things that will happen unexpectedly.
