Morgan Academy banquet honors volleyball players

The Morgan Academy honored its volleyball team at the school’s Fall Athletic banquet on Dec. 7.
Emme Albritton received the most honors including awards for team captain, most kills, most blocks and most aces. Albritton is also an Alabama Independent School Association (AISA) All-Star MVP and named the Selma Times-Journal Player of the Year.
Lydia Smitherman was honored as captain, earning the Hustle Award, with the most digs and earning a spot on the Selma Times-Journal All Dallas County team.
Other honorees are:
-Coaches Award: MacKenzie King;
-Most Assists: Hadley Verhoff
-Senator Strong Award: Brooke Waters,Elle Gibbs, Kylie Calame and Mackenzie King; and
-Selma Times All Dallas County team: Lydia Smitherman, Hadley Verhoff, Maryn Bergeron, Sarah Moore, Kylie Calame and Lilly McHugh.
Junior Varsity honorees are:
-Captain: Leila Moore;
-Captain: Ally Odom;
-Most Improved: Alice King;
-Hustle Award: Ally Odom;
-Coaches Award: Ellis Ann McHugh; and -Senator Strong Award: Leila Moore, Lilly Alsobrook, Lallie Gibbs and Ally Odom.
Head coach Glen Graham was Selma Times-Journal coach of the year in 2021 and 2022.
