Selma partners with Veterans Affairs for treatment series

The City of Selma is partnering with the Tuscaloosa  Veterans Affairs (VA) Medical Center and Victory Addiction Recovery Center for a series on treatment options next month.

The session will be held on Tuesday, Dec. 5  from 8:30 a.m. to noon at the George P. Evans Building.

The purpose of the event is to train attendees on the importance of screening individuals for servicemember or Veteran status, identifying social service resources for Veterans, and learning about lethal means of safety for the prevention of suicide.

The training will also have a panel discussion featuring a cross-section of mental health providers and emergency responders. 

The event is free to attend, but requires pre-registration.

The training provides 3.25 Alabama Department Public Health Office of Emergency Management Services, Alabama Peace Officers Standards and Training Commission and National Board for Certified Counselors Continuing Education hours.
