The Dallas County championship is on the line when Southside hosts Dallas County High School on Thursday.
The Panthers (6-3) have already beaten their top rivals, Selma and Keith two months ago. A win over the Hornets (0-9) will complete the sweep in Dallas County.
“We want to thrive within our County,” Southside coach Charles Moody Jr. said. “We are 11-2 against our county rivals during my tenure at Southside. We definitely want to continue that path.”
Moody also sees the contest as an opportunity to enter the Class 3A state playoffs on November 10 with momentum.
“It is very important for our program,” Moody said. We want to have momentum heading into the playoffs.”
The Panthers and Hornets are loaded with playmakers.
Southside is led by wide receivers Derick Smith, and Erick Smith, quarterback MJ Reese, and linebacker Jay Moore.
Dallas County is led by quarterback Kodell Sharpe and cornerback Desean Peat.
Isabella at Keith: The Bears (6-3) close the season on Friday with Homecoming at J.V. Caldwell Stadium in Orrville.
“Isabella is well coached, disciplined, and execute their offense at a high percentage,” Bears coach Anthony Lumpkin said.
