Meadowview Christian School athlete Sean Pope is The Selma Times-Journal’s high school player of the week.
“He’s improved with ability to get open for passes and able to make runs when they seem to be plugging the hole he’s going to,” Treherne said. “He makes things happen when they least expect it. Sean’s only a freshman, which means he has a bright future.”
The freshman scored six touchdowns as the Trojans beat Trinity Christian 52-42 last Friday in their season finale. It was the Trojans’ first victory in six years.
Pope played tailback last Friday, but usually fills the role of wide receiver. He is a threat to score anytime he touches the ball.
Meadowview coach John Treherne said Pope is deserving of the honor and improved as the season progressed.
Six other players have earned Player of the Week honors from the Selma Times-Journal: Meadowview quarterback MJ Reese, Southside wide receivers Erick and Derick Smith, Southside Cornerback Raquez Broadnax, Keith running back Sadarreion Reuben, and Keith quarterback Aveon Young.
