City Blocks Wellness Center founder speaks to Rotary Club

City Blocks Wellness Center Founder Dr. Rose Irby Wilkins was the guest speaker at the Selma Rotary Club on Monday.

Wilkins, a former graduate of Selma High School, discussed thoughts and leadership to the Rotary Club, injecting humor during her speech.

“You can’t outrun your shadow although on some days you want to,” Irby joked. “In our brains, we file where we store things.”

Wilkins spoke about various thoughts such as concrete thought, abstract thought, creative thought, and reflective thought.

“Leaders put out their thoughts and make decisions,” Wilkins said.

Wilkins discussed the Wellness Center, calling it a community wellness hub focused on providing customized mental health and wellness support systems.

“Our goal is to enhance mental health and wellness in underserved communities through collaborative partnerships with private and public entities,” Wilkins said. “To achieve this goal, the center acts as a centralized hub so community services can access diverse services.”
