Our opinion: Valley Grande Fall Festival deserves praise

The Valley Grande Fall Festival has quickly become one of the most popular events in Dallas County.

An overflow crowd and 40 vendors were on hand for last Saturday’s event at the Valley Grande Walking Trail.

Valley Grande Councilwoman Sara Day, who’s in charge of special events for the city, put on an outstanding event.  We were impressed with day’s display of hard work and dedication.

Of course, everything starts with the Valley Grande City Council, where Mayor Wayne Labbe and council members Kay Davidson, Bruce Hughes, and Robbie Rose were on hand for their support. We applaud their teamwork.

We are always glad to see the City of Selma businesses and its residents attend the event and offer their support. Selma had its own events going on the same day, but for some residents to attend the Valley Grande festival says something.

Dallas County Circuit Court Clerk Lynnethia Bennett performed at the event and we always love hearing her sing.

Dallas County High School had representation too as members of its cheerleading squad and Principal Erika Crum sold hats and assorted desserts.

We were also impressed with businesses from out of town, such as Montgomery and Maplesville having vendors at the event.

The Valley Grande Fall Festival ended its third year on a strong note and we expect to see this event get stronger in 2024.
