Baltimore Orioles shortstop Gunnar Henderson has played well in his Major League Baseball playoff debut.

Baltimore trails the best-of-5 American League Divisional Series 2-0 and could be eliminated on Tuesday night.

Henderson, a former Morgan Academy Prep All-American, is one of the Orioles’ bright spots. He’s homered and scored three runs in Game 2 of the American League Divisional Series against Texas on Sunday.

Henderson, 22, said the Rangers’ bullpen provides opportunities for big hits.

“Definitely eat some of their bullpen up,” Henderson told MASNsports.com. “Saw some of their arms. Just being able to see that and get some experience against some of their bullpen arms that is big, especially in a five-game series.”

Henderson, 22, had only a hit in Game 1 on Saturday but made national headlines when he was caught stealing in the ninth inning during a 3-2 loss.

“I was just out there trying to play hard, and I felt like we had a good chance to do it” Henderson told The Baltimore Sun, “We had some long times at the plate, so it was a good opportunity right there.”

Orioles’ manager Brandon Hyde called the play as “a little miscommunication,” and did not blame it for losing Game 1.
