I love to write. I have always loved to write. I have written bulletin articles for many years. I have written poems for almost every funeral I have preached (literally hundreds over the years) and I write poems for couples when I perform weddings.

Sometimes I write just because a thought or concept strikes me. I have been known to get up in the middle of the night to write something that struck me, because I will forget by morning if I wait.

But the most important writing that I have ever done is written every day.

Someday, someone will stand with my casket in front of them and this earthly tent I have cast off contained in it. And all they can honestly do is tell the story I have written by how I lived my life.

What will that person recall from my story I am now writing every day? Will he joyously speak of the life I have written? Or will he avoid speaking of the book of my life for fear of embarrassing my loved ones I have left behind?

You are writing a book. One line at a time with each deed you do (or fail to do). You are filling the pages, and writing a new chapter as life grows and ebbs and flows. Then, one day you will lay down the pen, the ink will dry out, and your book will be completed. The story will end.

How will the book of your life end? What will the preacher say to your family and friends as he recalls the book you have written?
