Pearl to speak at Selma Quarterback Club

Auburn University Assistant basketball coach Steven Pearl will be speaking to the Selma Quarterback Club on Monday.

The event will start at 6 p.m. at the George P. Evans Building.

Pearl, the son of Auburn head basketball coach Bruce Pearl, was named associate head coach on Aug. 1.

During the spring, Pearl was named one of the 50 most impactful high-major assistant coaches in NCAA Division I basketball by Silver Waves Media after the Tigers earned a No. 1 national ranking for the first time in program history and won the SEC regular-season title in 2021-22.

Pearl’s roles at Auburn include opponent scouting, defensive strategies, adjustments, and in-game play calling.

Pearl also helps in developing players for the NBA, including first-round draft picks Jabari Smith (third overall draft pick by the Houston Rockets,2022), Walker Kessler (22nd overall draft pick by the Memphis Grizzlies traded to the Utah Jazz 2022, Isaac Okoro (5th overall draft pick by the Cleveland Cavaliers, 2020) and Chuma Okeke (16th overall pick by the Orlando Magic.2019).
