The biggest prep football rivalry in Dallas County takes place for the 50th time Friday when Southside hosts Keith on the gridiron.

The Panthers (2-2) lead the all-time series 28-21, including a win last year at J.V. Caldwell Stadium in Orrville.

Southside head coach Charles Moody said the rivalry goes all the way to the friendship between principals Tommy Tisdale Jr. of Keith and Southside’s Cedric Brown as well as the one between himself and Bears’ coach Anthony Lumpkin.

“Keith is a big and very physical team that takes on the strong mentality of their Coach,” Moody said. “They have some playmakers who can score from anywhere! Defensively, they are downhill and very physical! It is going to be a great matchup! We are excited about the opportunity to play in this Rivalry.”

The Bears-Panthers contest is loaded with skilled players. Saderrieon Reuben and Aveon Young lead Keith. MJ Reese and Derick Smith lead the Panthers.

Keith coach Anthony Lumpkin is impressed with the talent and athleticism of Southside.

“Southside is well coached and very athletic,” Lumpkin said.

Kickoff is at 7 p.m.
