A film application from a Los Angeles company and the City Treasurer’s job description took center stage during the Selma City Council work session on Thursday.
City Attorney Major Madison told the council members present that George Media wants to film a Fitness Plus APP somewhere in Selma on Oct. 16. Madison said the firm wants to release the APP in January.
The film application is being put on First Read before the city council makes a vote next month.
Councilwoman Christie Thomas inquired about the job description and duties of City Treasurer Terri Barnes-Smith, specifically questioning her lack of attending meetings.
“The treasurer must attend both work sessions and council meetings to discuss city finances,” Thomas said.
Councilman Sam Randolph said he had no problems with Barnes-Smith’s absence at council meetings and suggested council members can see her in person at City Hall.
“If anyone wants to talk with the Treasurer, they can go by her office or call her, Randolph said.
Thomas disagreed, saying “Barnes-Smith should be at our meetings.”
