Getting your Trinity Audio player ready...

How do you measure the gift you receive? If someone gives you a new shirt or dress do you value it by how well it fits or how good it looks on you? Do we value it later for how long it lasts?

If someone gives you a drink of water, is its value based on how refreshing or how large it is, a factor which determines how long its effects will remain with you?

In John 4:13-14, Jesus interacts with the woman at the well,a Samaritan woman. Jesus tells her that whosoever drinks the water that she has with her shall thirst again, however anyone who drinks from the water that Jesus offers shall never thirst again.

The water Jesus gives will be in that person and become a well, springing up into eternal life. The water – the gift Jesus offers – is more valuable. It fits better, it’s more refreshing, and it will last for eternity.

The woman at the well had no idea initially to whom she was speaking, yet Jesus offered her the greatest gift she would ever receive. God created her thirst for the water that only Jesus can provide.

If we walk through life without Christ we search for earthly means to quench the thirst, but we are never completely quenched until we use the living Waters of Christ. He is the gift that fits perfectly, quenching completely our thirst for eternity. His gift of Salvation is offered to us anytime anyplace by simply accepting Jesus Christ as our Lord and Savior and repenting of our sins, not being sorry for our sins, but repenting and changing who we are now that we are in Christ, so that we desire to never sin again.
