Before the season began, Southside head coach Charles Moody said Reese is one of the key Panthers this season.

“MJ Reese has great arm strength, very athletic and has instinctive motivation to be great,” Moody said.

For the second straight week, a Southside athlete is The Selma Times-Journal player of the week. Derick Smith grabbed the honors last week.

The first Selma Times-Journal player of the week went to Keith running back Sederreion Reuben.
