Prep Roundup: Southside, Keith, Dallas County drop Region openers

Southside, Keith and Dallas County each lost their respective Region openers on Friday night.

Trinity 43, Southside 26: Despite three touchdown passes by MJ Reese, the Panthers (1-1, 0-1) fell in a Region 3, Class 3A contest.

Derick Smith caught two touchdown (TD) passes. His twin brother, Erick Smith also had a TD catch. Jay Moore ran for a touchdown.

The Panthers visit Sumter Central next Friday.

Linden 44, Keith 12: The Bears (2-1, 0-1) lost for the first time this season, dropping a Region 3, Class 1A opener to the Patriots.

Eric Hall had a 25-yard TD reception and scored on an 85-yard kickoff return for the Bears’ points.

Keith plays host to the University of Charter School next Friday at J.V. Caldwell Stadium in Orrville.

Lee-Scott 51, Morgan Academy 7: The Senators’ only points came on a Caden Tellier touchdown pass to Milton Hand.

Morgan Academy (1-2) hosts Fort Dale Academy in its home debut next Friday.

Sipsey Valley 70, Dallas County 12: The Hornets (0-2, 0-1) fell in a Region 3, Class 4A contest in Buhl.

Kodell Sharp threw touchdown passes for Cedrick Simmons and Alkreem Wilson for Dallas County, who hosts Montevallo next Friday in Plantersville.

Springwood Academy 57, Meadowview Christian School 30:  Despite its highest point total of the season, the Trojans fall to 0-3.

Alex Johnson, Trent Ballard and Sean Pope all scored touchdowns for the Trojans. Keymyron Pritchett, Cole Ballard and Johnson all scored two-point conversions.

Head coach John Treherne said he’s pleased with the Trojans’ effort this season.

Meadowview travels to Evangel-Montgomery next Friday.
