Selma shooting results in 16th murder this year

The Selma Police Department (SPD) is investigating a Saturday fatal shooting, where one person died from injuries sustained.
According to Selma Police Chief Kenta Fulford, SPD officers were dispatched to the area of Elkdale Street and Fifth Avenue regarding multiple gunshot victims.
Upon arrival, Fulford said officers observed an unresponsive 19-year-old suffering from gunshot wounds. The victim was transported to the Vaughan Regional Medical Center where he later succumbed to his injuries.
Officers also observed a 16-year-old male and a 6-year-old male suffering from gunshot wounds, who were treated at Vaughan Regional Medical Center.
Both of the victims’ injuries were non-life-threatening, Fulford said. The victims’ identities weren’t revealed. State law prohibits minors’ identities from being revealed.
A possible motive or suspect (s) was not immediately clear.
Fulford said if anyone has any information regarding these events, please contact the SPD. The shooting death is the 16th murder in Selma for 2023.
