Keith High and Morgan Academy open their football seasons on Friday night.
The Bears entertain Bullock County at home and Morgan Academy visits Patrician Academy. Both games kickoff at 7 p.m.
Bullock County at Keith: The Bears will face the Hornets at JV Caldwell Stadium in Orrville.
Key pieces of the Bears’ offense return this season – running back Sederrion Reuben and quarterback Aveon Young.
Keith head coach Anthony Lumpkin said he knows nothing about Bullock County because the Hornets have a new coaching staff, but Bullock County beat Keith 33-16 at home last year.
Morgan Academy at Patrician Academy: The rebuilding Senators visit the second-ranked Patriots this week, defending state champions.
Patrician Academy beat Morgan Academy 48-26 in 2022. Senators tight end Jay Lindsey has verbally committed to play at Mississippi State.
Senators head coach Danny Raines expects another tough contest against Patrician Academy
“They will be really good,” Raines said. “They are really good running good at running the Wing-T offense.”
Meadowview Christian School at Southern Academy: The Trojans (0-1) travel in their second game of the season.
MCS got strong performances from running back Trent Ballard and quarterback Alex Johnson against Jacksonville Christian School.
“We still have a lot of work to do, but they have improved so much from last year,” MCS head coach John Treherne said. “Their hard work and dedication to conditioning and getting better this summer has impressed more than anything. I am looking forward to a great season.”
The Trojans are seeking their first victory since the 2017 season.
Southside and Dallas County will open their seasons next Friday.
