Alabama VFW Auxiliary, Dallas County Sheriff’s Office donate to Brantley Elementary

The Alabama Veteran of Foreign Wars Auxiliary (AVFW) and Dallas County Sheriff’s Office (DCSO) have teamed up to donate school supplies to Brantley Elementary School on Wednesday.

Two members of the VFW Auxiliary, Lori Beard and Beth Doherty, appeared with Dallas County Sheriff Mike Granthum  and presented boxes of school supplies to Brantley Elementary School Principal Adrienne Lee.

“We are extremely grateful for the donation and have someone think about us at Brantley Elementary,” Lee said.

Supplies ranged from notebook paper, notepads, pencils, pens, crayons, folders, glue and rulers.

Granthum said that Brantley Elementary was selected between by the AFW and DCSO, who partner each year to give back to a local school.

“We team up with the VFW every year and we both came up with Brantley Elementary,” Granthum said. “We have a good relationship with them.”

Beard said it’s all about assisting the Queen City.

“We love giving back to the community,” Beard said.  “We enjoy helping the community and working with Sheriff Granthum.”
