“Our contractors are out here at the weekend working Saturday and Sunday,” Hendricks said. “This is a project that runs seven days a week.

The stadium was badly damaged by the January 12 tornado. Two months ago, the Selma City Council made a declaration of emergency.

Hendrick said the estimated cost of the repair is about $450,000. She added that $330,000 is being pulled from the parks and recreation budget, with the rest coming from American Rescue Funds.

“The insurance money hasn’t arrived. I think it’s important for people to know that.,” Hendricks said. “The Insurance company came out on January 13, the dafter the tornado hit.

“I’m not making excuses, just stating facts.”
