Selma City Schools held back to school event Monday

The Selma City Schools held  an event called “Operation Help Our Scholars.” on Monday.

Eleven Barbers from Selma and Montgomery, providing them with free haircuts at Selma High School gymnasium. GoodLife Kutz, Kevin Wright of Heritage Barber Shop, In Da Kutz Barbers, Cleopatra Beauty Shop, and Barber Kerry Horton all provided haircuts.

SCS, the Alethia House, and the FD Reese Foundation gave away free uniforms and school supplies.

SCS Superintendent Dr. Zickeyous Byrd and principals in the district talked to parents and students.

The SCS thanked their partners in education for contributing: Ross Plumbing, Ashley Funeral Home, Aubrey Larkin’s Lewis Brothers Funeral Home, Regions Bank, Frasier-Ousley Construction and Engineering, Walmart of Selma, Williams Funeral Home, and First Cahawba Bank.

“We are so grateful to everyone who supported Operation Help Our Scholars,” SCS said in a statement. “This family-oriented event was a team effort that included the entire Selma City Schools District. Over 200 people attended.”

Selma residents posted on Social Media, saying they enjoyed the event.

“It was a amazing experience great event for the kid,” Terrence Brown said.
