Selma Mayor James Perkins Jr. and the Selma City Council discussed his 2024 Fiscal Budget proposal on Tuesday night.

The entire city council was present for the council  meeting:  President Billy Young, council members Michael Johnson, Christie Thomas, Sam  Randolph,  Troy Harvill, Lesia James, Atkin Jemison, Clay Carmichael and Jannie Thomas.

In the Mayor’s Report, Perkins spoke about a budget time line.  Perkins sent the city council his 111-page budget proposal last Friday, both electronically and print.

Both sides discussed the next step, having a Finance Committee meeting to begin talks on the 2024 Budget.

Perkins also said that they need to speak about the 2022 Audit, which auditors will be in town on Monday.

The city council agreed to have a Finance Committee meeting on Monday at 6 p.m. in the Council Chambers to discuss both subjects. Councilman Troy Harvill is the Finance Committee chairman.
