The Selma City Council will meet Tuesday night at the Council Chambers.
The 2024 Fiscal Budget could get discussed. Selma Mayor James Perkins unveiled his $21.8 million Budget proposal to the public last week. At the public hearing Perkins said he would email a budget to the council members.
At the last council meeting, Perkins discussed the budget in his Mayor’s Report.
At last week’s City Council Work Session,City Council President Billy Young said they did not receive a Mayor’s report from Perkins or Attorney’s report from Attorney Major Madison.
Business Items from the Work Session will be for discussion.
Highlights of the Business Items came from Young, including:
-Annual Selma Youth Conference from July 26-29, which the city council will participate in. Former Selma City Councilwoman Angela Benjamin will host.
-Members of the Selma Redevelopment Authority, including former Selma City Councilwoman Susan Youngblood appeared and asked for donations.
-The Land Bank, which the city council is looking into a solution by possibly establishing a land bank agency that would make it easier for the city to buy dilapidated, tax delinquent homes and get them back on the tax rolls.
