Selma Mayor James Perkins Jr. will present a proposed budget Wednesday at 5 p.m. at Wallace Community College-Selma.

Perkins will present the Executive Branch ‘s proposed budget for the Fiscal Year 2024 for the public to attend and  listen.

“COVID, violent weather, rising costs, and time  have drastically changed our community, and now we must change  or we will continue to be left behind. The budget the department  heads, treasurer, and I have prepared is very different from previous  year’s budgets,” Perkins said.

“It is very progressive. We want to hear from our  citizens to ensure that we are covering your concerns. We want the  people to see our proposal and to understand ‘why’ we are proposing  this budget.”
