The Selma Times-Journal presented its Father’s Day contest winner Corey Hatcher with prizes and gift cards on Friday afternoon.

Hatcher received a $100 Daves Market gift card, a $75 Certificate to Harrell’s Refrigeration and a Tool Kit that was donated by Fuller’s. He also received some sauces and spices that he said he would put to good use this Father’s Day weekend.

“I love to cook so I’m going to throw something on the grill this weekend. I’ve got two more weekends before I take my son to college so I want to make it special.”

Hatcher’s 18-year-old son was the one who entered his father into the contest without his dad knowing. Hatcher had a response.

“I’m blown away,” Hatcher said. “ I have never won anything like this. Never won a contest before. I’m going to get my son when I get home.”

Hatcher’s son just graduated from Dallas County High School and will be attending College in the fall. He had a message for the other fathers out in Dallas County this Father’s Day weekend.

“It’s a tough road,” Hatcher said. “But as long as you keep God first everything will work itself out.”

The Father’s Day Contest was sponsored by the following: Dave’s Market, Fuller’s, Selma Cash and Carry, Summerlin Hardware, RoundTree Outdoors, Gary’s, Blue OX Equipment & Supply, Harrell’s Refrigeration and The Boot and Shoe.
