Morgan Academy’s athletic program has taken another big hit as of Tuesday Night when Head girls and boys basketball coach assistant baseball coach and assistant football coach Lebo Jones was named the new Head football coach, baseball coach and Athletic Director for Wilcox Academy.
Jones spent the last five years at the helm of the Senators and Lady Senators basketball program. In his last season coaching at Morgan, he led the Senators to an Area Championship by defeating host team Fort Dale. Coach Jones has been surrounded by sports for a long time even before coming to Morgan Academy. He coached at Meadowview Christian from 2012-2016. During his time coaching, he served as the interim director of the Selma Recreation Department. After his time at Meadowview, he coached at Marengo County in 2017 before coming to Morgan. Jones says he is excited to be back as a head coach and AD but will miss what he considers his home at Morgan Academy.
“I am looking forward to going to Wilcox Academy. It is a great school and I can’t wait to get started. I appreciate them for hiring me. I am excited to be a head football coach and Athletic Director again,” Jones said. “I will truly miss Morgan, it’s like home to me. I graduated from there along with my brother and sister. I’m thankful for the five years I coached there and wish them all the best. I will definitely miss the kids! I hope that I made a difference in their lives and led them in a godly way.”
