Seoyon E HWA Interior Systems Alabama will add 60 jobs and $4.2 million to Selma and Dallas County.

Selma-Dallas County Economic Development Authority Executive Director Wayne Vardaman made the announcement at a press conference on Thursday at the Selma-Dallas County Public Library.

The Tier I Hyundai supplier, located in Craig Industrial Park, manufactures several kinds of plastic interior parts for Hyundai Motor Manufacturing Alabama. The expansion is in conjunction with HMMA’s upcoming production of the updated Santafe MX5A, which will be manufactured later this year at the HMMA Hope Hull Assembly Plant.

“I’ve been working with this company for a very long time,” Vardaman said. “They’re a very good company and we appreciate them. It took a lot of hard work to get them here.”

Selma Mayor James Perkins Jr. was in office when he helped EDA successfully bring Seoyon E HWA to Selma in 2005.

“We’re excited to have their expansion and bringing more jobs to Selma,” Perkins said.

State Rep. Prince Chestnut said he’s grateful to have Seoyon’s business in the Queen City. They currently employ 439 employees at the plant.

“We’re really appreciative of Seoyon investing in our community,” Chestnut said. “We see the potential for more growth.”

Craig Field Airport and Industrial Authority Executive Director Jim Corrigan said it’s great to see Seoyon have a great relationship with Selma and Dallas County.

“It’s another good day in Selma,” Corrigan said. “For 18 years, they’ve been bringing jobs to Selma.”

Dallas County Commissioner Curtis Williams attended the press conference and said he’s glad to see more business in the area.

“It feels great to have Seoyon expand and bring more jobs,” Williams said. “I am grateful.”
