Valedictorian Amyrrean Acoff and Salutatorian Erica Goldsby led the Selma High graduating class into a fond farewell.
A total of 171 Selma High students walked across the stage at Wallace Community College-Selma on Friday to receive their diplomas.
Acoff and Goldsby both said they are honored to finish atop the Selma High Class of 2023. Both had 4.3 GPAs.
“Finishing as Class Valedictorian means so much to me because I worked so hard to achieve this,” Acoff said. “Through this, I learned that if you can put mind, good things will happen.”
For Goldsby, finishing second is a huge accomplishment in her life.
“I learned no matter how hard things get, never give up and keep trying,” Goldsby said.
Acoff and Goldsby have set their college destinations. Acoff plans to attend the University of Alabama and major in Political Science. Goldsby plans to major in Biology/Pre-Med at UAB.
Graduation marked the final day for Dakaari Nelson, who will play football at Penn State in the fall. The Selma Times-Journal football player of the year leaves for State College, Pennsylvania on Saturday. Nelson , a two-time All-state pick, said he’s ready to move on for college.
