The accolades continue for Accountant Daryl Thomas.
Selma Mayor James Perkins Jr. officially declared Friday, May 5 as Daryl D. Thomas Day. A ceremony was held at Thomas Accounting and Tax Service, LLC..
Nearly two months ago, Thomas was named Small business person of the year for the state of Alabama by the U.S. Small Business Administration. Thomas took a trip to Washington, D.C. to receive the award and shook the hand of President Joe Biden.
“I feel great about receiving this award, I feel blessed by God,” Thomas said.
Perkins read a proclamation and presented Thomas with a key to the city.
“This is a rare occasion, the key to the city is usually given to a special guest, but Mr. Thomas deserves it,” Perkins said.
Sharon V. Dooley of SBA also attended the ceremony. Dooley said she was happy to see Thomas get honored.
Thomas and his wife, Sherri, have been married for 22 years. They have a daughter, Nakiria.
