First Baptist Church hosted Community Recovery Day

A Community Recovery Day was held Saturday at First Baptist Church.

First Baptist Church, Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc., Alpha Phi Alpha Area 3, Selma City Council President Billy Young, One House, Inc. Selma Municipal Judge Donovan McGuire, Little Rock Missionary Baptist Church Pastor Reverend LeBarron Mack all sponsored the event.

Young, who is also  a member of the Black Belt Alphas, said the event went well. He appreciated the sponsorships and people who attended.

“It was a great day of brotherhood and service at the Community Day of recovery,” Young said. “A special thanks to our sponsor. The brothers of Alpha Phi Alpha were represented.”

Travis DeAndre, a member of the Area 3 group of Alpha Phi said the fraternity was honored the participate.

“Thank you Selma for allowing the Black and Gold to serve you,” DeAndre said.

Rex Jones of Cougar Oil dropped by the event and said he was impressed how things went.

“They had a community recovery event that was awesome,” Jones said.
