Game 1
The Morgan Academy Senators ran off with the lead late in the game in a 14-4 victory over Ezekiel Academy on Tuesday to get their final win of the season. The game was tied at three with the Senator’s batting in the bottom of the fourth when an error scored one run for Morgan Academy.
John Allen Ingram led Morgan Academy Varsity Senators at the plate in game one. Ingram went 3-for-4 at the plate. Ingram drove in runs on a single in the fourth and a double in the fifth that opened up the lead for Morgan.
The Senator’s seniors got things moving in the first inning, when T.B. Clements doubled on a 1-1 count, scoring one run.
Morgan tallied nine runs in the fifth inning. Harrison Jones, Speedy Pernell, C.J. Crocker, Ingram, Barron Frazer, and Jones powered the big inning with RBIs.
Frazer was the winning pitcher for Morgan. Frazer lasted five innings, allowing four hits and four runs while striking out six.
Putnam led things off on the mound for Ezekiel Academy. He surrendered five runs on six hits over three and two-thirds innings, striking out eight and walking one. Campbell and Shelton entered the game as relief, throwing two-thirds of an inning and one-third of an inning respectively.
The Senators tallied ten hits on the day. Ingram and Frazer managed multiple hits for the win.
“We played well in game one and were extremely focused,” Head Coach Stephen Clements said. “ I thought we made some good adjustments at the plate with our approach and pushed some runs across the board. What a great group of young men. Thankful.”
Senior Night
Five senators were honored during senior night with their family and friends in attendance. John Allen Ingram, CJ Crocker, Clay Beers, T.B. Clements, and Jack Moore each took their spot on the first baseline with their parents while the audience acknowledged their accomplishments at their time at Morgan.
“I am extremely pleased and blessed to coach this group of seniors,” Clements said. “They were 8th graders when we got here and have worked their Tails off the entire time. They are a great group of young men and will be very productive in society as adults. What a pleasure it has been to watch them grow. We had lots of injuries this season and fought through a lot of adversity. Proud of them.”
Game 2
Coming off the emotion of senior night the Morgan Academy Senators had to quickly switch gears and focus back in on a game two against Ezekiel Academy. Despite a valiant effort to come back from down four runs in the third inning, they fell 6-5 to Ezekiel Academy.
Hughes earned the victory on the mound for Ezekiel Academy. Hughes lasted two-thirds of an inning, allowing one hit and two runs while walking none.
Jack Moore took the mound for Morgan Academy in what would be his final game in a Senators jersey. Moore lasted two and two-thirds innings, allowing three hits and five runs while striking out two. Cade Henderson threw two and a third innings in relief.
Chatman started the game for Ezekiel Academy. Chatman surrendered one run on no hits over two innings, striking out one
