Four prominent people in Selma and Dallas County spoke at the Selma Bridge Crossing Jubilee on Sunday at the Songs of Selma Park.
Selma Mayor James Perkins Jr. thanked President Biden approving the FEMA loan for 100 percent and credited Sewell playing a big role.
“We needed that 100 percent,” Perkins said. “We thank Terri Sewell for her full-court press for her district and her hometown of Selma.”
Wallace Community College-Selma President Dr. James Mitchell challenged Selma and Dallas County residents to live by the Jubilee’s theme, “Cross a Bridge, Be a Bridge.”
Faya Rouse, who founded the Selma Bridge Crossing Jubilee with her husband, former State Senator Hank Sanders, also spoke during the event and said that Selma needs to be rebuilt stronger and fairer.
