Pine Belt Communications is assisting the City of Selma with the 58th annual Bridge Crossing Jubilee this weekend that includes a visit from President Joe Biden.

The Selma Fire Department and City of Selma IT Network Administrator Amanda Smith also assisted with the internet connection on Friday.

John Nettles, Pine Belt Communications’ President, is providing the internet support through Pine Belt’s network to keep the program afloat and effectively capture Biden’s speech on Sunday.

“I see it as an opportunity to help make sure my city put its best foot forward,” Nettles said.

“The event, itself, is a reminder of the sacrifices that had to be made and how hard the fight was for a group of U.S. citizens to gain the fundamental right to vote in order to be a part of our form of government.”

Smith called it an opportunity

“It’s an honor and privilege to get ready for the President of the United States,” Smith said. “It’s something we’ve never done before.”
