Williamson Subdivision lot tops Valley Grande council meeting

The Williamson Subdivision Lot highlighted the Valley Grande City Council meeting on Monday.
The entire city council was present at the meeting: Mayor Wayne Labbe, council members Sara Day, Kay Davidson, Bruce Hughes, Robby Rose and clerk/treasurer Kim Harris.
Before the city council approved Brian Williamson purchasing the 8 lots that spread between 60 and 66 acres on Highway 22, several Valley Grande residents expressed concern. about restrictive covenants, performance bonds and trouble in some neighhorhoods.
Labbe said that the city lacks an ordinance because it doesn’t have a police department.
In other city council news:
-The city council voted to have a Concession Bid Update for the next two weeks until February 21 at Valley Grande ballfields.
-The city council approved David Oliver invoices, which they will reimburse the Dave’s Market owner. No amount was announced.
-The city council approved Selma Fencing Company to do the Gate Fencing at Valley Grande Ball Fields.
Paxton Reese of Civil Southeast Engineering addressed the city council. Reese said Will Barrett no longer works for the company.
Reese also gave an update on the TAP Grant, which will be decided later this spring. He also told the city council about applying for a $250,000 Rebuild Alabama Act Grant, which will be used on street paving. The deadline to apply for the Grant is this week.
The next Valley Grande City Council meeting will be Tuesday, February 21 at 6 p.m. The meeting is moved because of President’s Day falls on Monday, February 20.
