Big plays lift Keith past Dallas County

Keith High  recorded its first victory of the season on Friday night.

Big plays lifted the Bears  to a 28-6 victory over Dallas County at J.V. Caldwell Stadium in Orrville.

The Bears (1-1) got two touchdowns from Javon Richardson. Saderreion Reuben and Aveon Young each scored a touchdown.

Richardson has scored four touchdowns in two games.

Daveon Jones, a Division I recruit, scored the Hornets’ only touchdown.

Keith played Dallas County for the first time since 2007. The Bears won that contest as well.

“They have a big back and  were able to keep them out of the end zone,” Keith head coach Anthony Lumpkin said.

Lumpkin is also pleased with the Bears’ start to the season.

The Hornets (0-1) lost their season opener.

Dallas County leads the all-time series 30-4.

Douglas Laister is in his second year as Hornets coach.

Lumpkin was the Selma Times-Journal football coach of the year in 2021.

The Hornets visit Sipsey Valley next Friday.

Keith High entertains Linden at J.V. Caldwell Stadium in Orrville next Friday.
