Morgan Academy faces a tough task in its opener.
The Senators entertain third-ranked Patrician Academy on Friday at Senator Stadium. This is also the season opener for Patrician Academy.
Morgan Academy and Patrician Academy have split their four meetings in a series that began four years ago. The Senators won the first two contest. Patrician Academy won the last two, including a 33-14 victory last year.
Morgan Academy head coach Danny Raines said he knows what to expects from Patrician Academy.
“Patrician Academy is a really good football team that’s ranked third in the state,” Raines said. “They have a great group of players coming back from last year.”
Morgan Academy lost a lot of firepower from last year’s team, including quarterback Andrew Thomas, tight end Cink Minter and kicker Wade Mason.
Raines, however, believes in the seniors, including quarterback T.B. Clements, running back John Allen Ingram and wide receiver Rhyne Williams.
“Our kids had a great spring, summer and fall camp,” Raines said. “We are looking forward to playing on Friday night.”
