The Selma Police Department and several state agencies arrested multiple suspects and confiscated several guns at a nightclub on Friday night.

According to Selma Police Chief Kenta Fulford, law enforcement found several business license violations, 11 guns and drugs during a business check.  He said the club violated its permit as a rental event venue, charging a cover at the door and selling alcohol.

Lewis Freeman, who runs the club but rents the building from Rose Sanders, was arrested by ALEA and charged with possession of a controlled substance. Six others were charged with carrying firearms without permits. The SPD and Dallas County Sheriff’s Office also assisted with the incident.

“They did not have permits to charge at the door nor charge for alcohol which was happening when officials arrived,” Fulford said.
The club is formerly known as the Drip Lounge, is located on 1400 Water Avenue.
Fulford added that the Selma City Council can determine whether the club is shut down permanently.
