Lillie Hull Lassen passed away peacefully on June 18, 2022 at the age of 84 years old. Lillie was loved and cherished. She was a blessing to many that knew her. She was a feisty red-head who had a zest for life which she shared with everyone.
Lillie was born and raised in Selma, Alabama, by Florence and Bill Hull, the eldest of four children. She moved to New Orleans, Louisiana, and graduated from Charity School of Nursing in the Class of 1959. Lillie married Dr. Alvin Lassen, who she partnered with both personally and professionally until his death in 2015. As a couple, they lived in Metairie, Houma, and Shreveport, Louisiana, as well as Diamondhead and Picayune, Mississippi.
In the last years of her life, Lillie lived at Vista Shores in New Orleans, where she was dearly cared for by her wonderful companion caregivers, Yacheka Brown and Demetria Quinn.
The family would like to extend deep gratitude to Suzy Andry, for her extraordinary care and generosity toward Lillie in her final years.
Lillie is survived by her brother Paul Hull (Gloria), her sister, Gail Hull, and three nieces, two nephews, and five great-nephews all across the South. She is also survived by her four stepchildren, ten step-grandchildren, and three step-great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her many dear friends including her best friend from nursing school, Suzy Andry, and her Temple Sinai sisterhood friends, Lillian Opotowsky, and Irma Freibaum.
She is predeceased by her parents, Florence Hull and Bill Hull, her brother Grant Hull, and her late husband Alvin Lassen.
All who knew her will remember her smile, good nature, pure wit, her cooking, and her philosophy of “always look on the bright side” of life.
Lillie will be deeply missed and will live in the hearts of those who knew and loved her! May her memory be a blessing!
