An African-American female was killed Saturday night on Alabama Avenue.

Selma Police Chief Kenta Fulford confirmed Sunday morning that Aiesha Franklin, 23, was killed on the 1800 block of Alabama Avenue.

“Around 8:30 Saturday night, Selma police officers responded to the 1800 block of Alabama Avenue in reference to shots being fired,” Fulford said. “Upon arrival, officers discovered that 23-year-old black female Aiesha Franklin had been struck and pronounced deceased.”

Fulford said there are currently no motive nor suspects at the moment and it remains under investigation by the Selma Police Department.

This is the eighth murder of 2022 in Selma.
