Morgan Academy was the last high school baseball team in Dallas County to end its season.
The seventh-ranked Senators were swept by Glenwood Academy in the third round of the AISA state baseball playoffs.
It was no shame in the Senators falling to Glenwood, the No. 1 team in the AISA poll by the Alabama Sportswriters Association.
Some of us arrived the same time head coach Stephen Clements arrived in 2018. The Senators were classy on and off the field under Clements.
During that stretch, we’ve seen remarkable talent on the Senators’ baseball diamond, ranging from shortstop Gunnar Henderson getting drafted by the Baltimore Orioles to pitcher Andrew Thomas signing a junior college scholarship.
We expect that Thomas’ other senior teammates, Davis Vardaman, Matthew Hand, and Hayden Roberts, will be successful in life as workers, husbands and fathers.
The Senators may have lost Wednesday night, but they are winners in life.
