The Easter weekend is officially underway with Good Friday.

The Friday before Easter usually means school is out and several businesses are closed, giving people a chance to make last-minute plans for the holiday.

While Selma and Dallas County churches are having Easter services on Sunday, Gospel Tabernacle is scheduled to have Resurrection Sunday at the Riverfront Amphitheater. Worship Service starts at 9:30 a.m., followed with a free picnic at 11:30 a.m. and egg hunt at 1 p.m.

We admire Gospel Tabernacle Pastor John E. Grayson for closing their church doors for a community-wide event. We’re also pleased that Selma Housing Authority is sponsoring the picnic and egg hunt.
